Anxious?

alexia.substack.com

Hi all, I wanted to take a quick moment to share this Nano Tool from Wharton Executive Education on managing anxiety. As a life coach with 25+ years experience in mental health and a Master’s degree in Counseling, I can tell you from my expertise that feeling anxious is not only ok but normal. At this point with the constant change and turmoil we are all experiencing personally & professionally, only a robot would avoid this emotion. We are human and coping with uncertainties long term is hard.

Neuroscience research shows us we can practice an exercise to trick the brain going from anxious to excited. For example, before I give a training I experience feeling nervous. I tell myself and state out loud, “I am so excited I get to give a presentation!” My brain follows this prompt with the good chemicals produced, leading to a more relaxed state in my mind and body. We just can’t separate our thoughts, emotions and body. We have more of a say than we realize when things seem out of control. There is something we can find exciting, right? This might be a stretch on some days more than others. I will say to you what I say to myself…. “Keep going!”

I hope you find this of help like I do.

Best,

Alexia
